Kona Blast Part 2 : Pictures from the Rides.

Posted By: Chuck Cowan

Our rides at the Blast event started around 2pm. We came out to a huge rack of new 2011 bikes, some prototypes and some left overs from last year. To get to ride the newest bikes before they are even officially available is pretty rad. I got to ride a 2011 Cadabra, more on that in the next post.

The ride left the hotel and flowed around town till we got to a park that slowly got us up to the technical climbing areas. To say the park was beautiful doesn’t do it justice. You’ll just to go out to Bellingham some time and check it out for your self.
To get from the park up to the ridge line was difficult. I’ve seen switch backs before but nothing like this. 30 to 50 yards between turns and 20 to 30 feet of elevation each time.
When we did get to ridge it just kept going, and going, and going, and going, up.
The trails were a great mix of Single Track and All Mountain type stuff with a ton of stunts thown in.
On day 2 we took our PBR’s with us and stopped for a break before the descending started. The trails going down were fun, fast and intense. Huge Skinny’s, Double jumps all over the place and Huge Rock drops (the one above is a baby one). Needless to say I had to stop taking pictures cause it was to hard to stop riding.
After 2 days of riding elevation that we do not have in MN it was nice to recoup. My legs are still sore, but I cannot wait to do it again.
